Building Trust Making FriendsThis program is for children 6-10 years old. This group model helps children learn how to become aware of feelings, how to grow in self-esteem, and how to acquire interactive skills as healthy individuals. |
Breaking
FreeDesigned for residents at the shelter, this information and support program provides women with information pertaining to abuse, the cycle of violence, effects on children, self-esteem, feelings, goal planning, parenting and other life skills. |

This program for ages 13-17 years has a strong emphasis on self-empowerment by providing relevant information to promote skill development. Girls will be provided with support as they learn life skills and establish independence. |

The program offers parents tools for positive parenting. Parents will have an opportunity to share their own ideas and experiences about raising children, discuss appropriate parenting skills, discipline techniques and effective communication with their children. |

This is a 24 week youth program (13-17) years which provides information about basic life skills, violence, anger and behaviors. It will assist adolescents in examining their attitudes and behaviors and challenges youth to build on existing skills to make positive healthy changes. |
Self Empowerment
for Women (I)The program encourages women to look at ways in which life experiences influence their lives and their thinking. The women will learn to recognize destructive thinking and unhealthy patterns of interaction. They will learn to replace them with healthy, positive thoughts and productive behaviors. Participants will focus on five components of personal health: physical, mental, emotional, spiritual and volitional potentials. The women will be encouraged to explore, rebuild and expand these potentials within themselves. |

Women will previously have completed Self Empowerment I. Participants will increase their sense of personal power and their ability to make positive, constructive choices in their own lives. |

Volunteer mentors will connect one-on-one with the women who require support and a linkage to the community. |
InsightsInsights is a support group for the partners of the men attending the New Perspectives Program. The program will help the woman to understand the content of the men’s program, learn healthy ways of relating in relationships and provide a safety network. |

New Perspectives for Men program is for men who have difficulty with violence or abusive behaviors in relationships. Participants will be looking at long ingrained attitudes and the positive results of practicing a violence free lifestyle based on respect, consideration, responsibility and equality in relationships. New Perspectives for Men is a 16-week program. |
Family ActivitiesFamily activities are offered to moms and their children while they are residents of the shelter. |
Volunteer
ProgramDedicated volunteers are vital to the Lloydminster Interval Home. They enrich the Shelter’s programs and enhance the lives of others through their commitment, support, knowledge and enthusiasm. Our volunteers assist with specific tasks (i.e. baking, fundraising, childcare, working at the store, etc.) while providing themselves with an opportunity to increase their knowledge about family violence and make a meaningful contribution to the community. |
Outreach ProgramCreated to provide ongoing support services to past clients, this program fills the gap of uncertainties women face when leaving an abusive relationship. Many women and children return to abusive homes because of a lack of social support, not knowing of available services and because of economic need. The services include: Advocacy and referral, intervention, developing and implementing support groups and assessing safety issues. |
Public Education ProgramThis program’s aim is to promote public awareness of family violence and its effects. Collaborating with schools, churches, government service providers, First Nation communities and businesses, the program strives to inform all community members. |
